Kenneth R. Johnson, 77, of Xenia, IL died at 1:30 PM Saturday, August 30, 2008 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.
He was born December 28, 1930 in Decatur, IL to Lincoln Beryle & Viola (Applegate) Johnson.
He left Xenia and moved to Pekin to work 42 yrs. at Caterpillar in East Peoria, IL. When he retired in April 1990 he moved back to Xenia. He also worked part-time at R.A. Bolam Realty in Pekin and ran a food concession business, Ken's Delites Inc., for 20 years doing fairs and festivals. He loved to hunt and fish during his off time and was the greatest Dad, Grandpa and Great-Grandpa corndogger there ever was. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
Kenneth married Jean Maree Fleming on Sept.1950.
Kenneth married Yvonne R. Cooley on September 14, 2002 and she survives.
Also surviving are children: Janie Johnson Wrhel & husband Mike of Pekin, Deborah Craig Block & husband Lyle of East Peoria, Kenneth Johnson II & wife Chris of Washington, Kandace Agunod of Pekin; ; sister-in-law: Cathey Johnson of Ethridge, TN, half-sister: Judy Kennedy of Peoria; 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister (Shirley Ann Colclasure) and 1 brother (Leon Johnson).
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Friday, September 5, 2008 at Xenia United Methodist Church.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Xenia. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Thursday at Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora, and after 9 AM until services time on Friday at the church.
Memorials may be made to Clay County Food Pantry and may be received at the funeral home.
