Sarah Ann Lassley was the daughter of Revolutionary war hero John Lassley (1743-1830) and Sarah Tyler (1747- ). Sally was probably born in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne county, Pennsylvania, as her father was stationed there. John Lassley bought land in Damascus in 1787, but may have been there prior to that time.

"8269 Sarah Tyler (Bezaleel), born in Sharon, Ct. 21 Dec 1747; mar. John Lassley, who was the first Lieutenant of the Cochecton Company of which Bezaleel Tyler, his wife's brother, was Captain, 22 Dec 1775. He served through the Revolution and settled in Damascus, Pa.; where the children were probably born.
8728 Cornelius Lassley, born 17 Dec 1767; died 15 Mar 1797; mar. Eleanor Decker, (4) children (Katherine, John, Cornelius and Eleanor Lassley).
8729 Sarah Lassley, mar. Parks Baird, (7) children (James, John L., Aaron, Cornelius, Parks, Sarah, and Hester Baird). Died before 1853.
8730 Hester Lassley, mar. Mr. Salisbury.

Parks Baird and Sarah Lesly, both of Freehold, were married October 4 1801 at the Congregational Church in Freehold, Green county, New York. Freehold changed its name to Greenville in 1808, and the church is now the Presbyterian Church of Greenville.

My father wrote "From the bible of your great, great, great, great grandmother, Sarah Lassley Beard (Barid)" and included photocopies of three old bible pages. They are hard to decipher, but from other family documents, I believe the following is what she wrote. She spelled Baird as Beard, and Lassley in the old style, where the first 's' was written with the bottom loop backwards, rather than forwards like the 'f'.

~Parks Beard was Born March 11, 1779
~I was married October 4th, 1801
~My son John Lassley Beard was born November 14, 1803 on monday
~My Son Denis Beard was Born March the 12th 1805 on teusday
~My son James Beard was Born September the 6th 1806 on Saterday
~My Son Parks Beard Born September 14th, 1807 on Saterday
~My Daughter Sarah Beard was Born Sep 13th 1809 on wednesday
~my Son Ithemer Beard was Born nov 15th 1811 on monday
~my son Amos Beard was Born September 15th 1813 on thursday
~my Daughter Easther Beard Born March 18th 1816 on monday
~My son Cornelous Beard was Born April the 12th 1818 on Sunday
~my son Aaron Beard was Born March 24th 1820 on Friday
~my daughter Cathara Beard was Born August 2th 1823 on Saterday and Died October 30th 1823 on Sunday

The 1810 census shows the family living in Greenville, New York. By 1820 they had moved to Damascus, Wayne County, Pennsylvania, where they remained even after Sarah's death in 1840.

I'm sorry to say my father had died before I began researching, so I do not know who in the family got the Bible
