Mr. Smith, 32, died April 5, 1993, at Baptist Hospital in Jackson. He was born in Lincoln County on April 20, 1960, to Thomas E. Smith and Linda Lee Smith. He was a lieutenant with the Brookhaven Fire Department, where he had worked for nine years. He also served as an auxiliary deputy for the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Brookhaven. Survivors are his wife, Joann Caforo Smith of Brookhaven; one son, Carl Meehan Smith of Brookhaven; one daughter, Leann Marie Smith of Brookhaven; his father, Thomas E. Smith of Brookhaven; his mother, Linda Lee Smith of Brookhaven; one brother, Todd Graham Smith of Baton Rouge, LA; and grandmother, Nellie Smith of Brookhaven.Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge.
