Acker Gene, about 41, of R. 1, Rome City, died of a self-inflicted gun wound September 23 at his home on Pleasant Point. He was born Jan. 1, 1931 in Indiana, a son of Jesse and Lottie (VanLear) Acker. He married Donna Frederick July 30, 1954. He was employed as a receiving clerk at Flint & Walling Mfg Co. in Kendallville and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kendallville and the Eagles Lodge of Albion. He was a WW II veteran. Surviving are the widow; three children, Rena, Rhonda and Randy, all at home; one sister, Mrs. Carlyle (Betty) Smith of Kendallville; and a brother, Dale Couts of Adrian, Mich. A son passed away in infancy. Services September 25, 1972 at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville. Burial, South Milford Cemetery. + 9-?-1972
