On June 16, 1901, he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Cook. She and his three daughters, Mrs. Russell (Jessie) Collier of Paris, Mrs. William (Ida) Erwin of Newton, and Mrs. Otho (Naomi) Johnson of Casey, survive him. He also leaves eight grandchildren; two brothers, Ed Fear of Norman, Oklahoma; and Frank Fear of Newton; two sisters, Mrs. John (Bertha) Wagner of Newton and Mrs. Cyrus (Fannie) Eveland of Mattoon, besides a host of relatives and friends.
He was a good husband and loving father. With the passing of this man the community will not only miss him as a good citizen, but will mourn for him as a friend who loss is irreparable to each of them.
'Tis hard to break the tender cord,
When love has bound the heart;
'Tis hard, so hard to peak the words
We must forever part.
Dearest loved one,
We must lay thee
In the peaceful grave's embrace,
But thy memory will be cherished
''Tis we see thy heavenly face.
He united with the Shiloh Christian church when a young man and lived in that faith until called home. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon and burial was in Riverside cemetery.
Pallbearers were nephews, Earl, Elmer, Mearl, Frank and George Fear and Raymond Wagner. Flower girls were nieces, Mrs. Nora Benefiel, Mrs. Dorothy May, Mabel and Alice Eveland, Mrs. Gola Shaner, and Mrs. Oca Fear.
