J. T. Box, aged about 68 years, died at the poor house in Oneonta Tuesday morning July 2nd. His remains were carried to Chepultepec for interment. Mr. Box was on of the pioneer citizens of Murphree's Valley, and we understand served his people in the capacity of Justice of the Peace from the time he was twenty-one years of age until a few years ago when his health gave way. He was a consistent member of the M. E. Church, South, and while he was not rich in this world's goods, he no doubt has treasures laid up in Heaven.
