Loretta Ellen Oliver, daughter of Thomas and Josephine Oliver, was born September 12, 1877, in Peoria, Ia., and passed away November 21, 1951, at her home near Wayne, at the age of 74 years, 2 months and 9 days.

She moved to southern Kansas with her parents in 1885 where they lived until 1889. Her father made the run into the Oklahoma territory and homesteaded on a claim near Crescent, where Loretta spent her young womanhood.

She was united in marriage to Charles Alvin Campbell at Crescent, Okla., on December 24, 1894, and came to Wayne where they resided on the same farm for more than 55 years.

To this union six children were born, five daughters and one son.

Her devotion to her family was always foremost in her mind and her loving hand ministered to her husband who was an invalid suffering from arthritis several years before his death in 1950.

She was a member of the Methodist church and always active in Sunday school and various organizations of the church and community as long as her health permitted.

She leaves to mourn her departure: four daughters, Freda Abrahams of Overland Park, Hazel Jones of Harper, Utah, Alice England of Richmond, Cal., and Helen Nelson of Ogallah (sic); one son, Champ of Wayne; 11 grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Fred Cress of Crescent, Okla., Mrs. M.M. Tate of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Mrs. Fred Rowe of Pawhuska. A daughter, Eileen Crabb, and one brother, Will Oliver of Crescent, Okla., preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held November 24 at the Methodist church at Wayne. The Rev. R.G. Hollen assisted by the Rev. E.A. Nossaman conducted services, and interment was in Union cemetery (sic) at Wayne.
