Obit – Harold Hale
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, March 25, at the United Methodist Church in Decatur .for Harold E. Hale. The Rev. Ralph Ford officiated.
Music was provided by Mrs. Lewis Beard, organist.
Pallbearers were Donald Drummond, Doyle Huffman, Kenneth Wilson, Leland Case, Kerry Farber and Vernon Clements.
Graveside services, including rites conducted by Pilot Masonic Lodge No 240 were at Hillcrest Cemetery, Decatur.
Harold Emins Hale was born October 8, 1912 to Edgar and Clara Arnold Hale near Lyons, Nebraska and passed away in Onawa, Iowa, March 22, 1982 after a long illness.
Hale grew up on the on the family farm in the Divide Center community and was educated in Burt County where he had lived all his life.
He was united in marriage to Margaret Doolittle at Tekamah, NE February 7, 1934. One child, Mary Jane.
After 12 years of farming in the Blackbird community, he moved his family to Decatur and entered the Implement business in partnership with brother-in-law, Willard Drummond. After a few years the partnership was dissolved and the business sold.
Harold had maintained an active interest in his farm and continued to do so until ill health forced his retirement.
He was a member of the Methodist Church in Decatur; Pilot Lodge 240 A.F. & A.M. Lyons; Past Master of Star Lodge 88 A.F. & A.M. Decatur; and a Past Patron of Orpha Chapter of Eastern Star, Decatur; and also a member of the Scottish Rite of Omaha; a volunteer fireman and member of the Decatur School Board.
He was united in marriage to Bernice (Lowe) Schneider, June 5, 1975.
He suffered the loss of his wife, Margaret, in November 1970 and his only grandson, Michael Farber, in August 1980. Others preceding him in death were his parents. 2 sisters Mrs. Paul Larson (Doris) and Mrs. Burdette West (Elva) and one brother, Cecil Hale.
Hale is survived by his wife, Bernice, daughter Mary Jane and husband David Farber, granddaughters Pat and husband Lester Shaw, Decatur; Mrs. Michael Farber (Colleen) Aurora and 3 great-grandchildren, Kiley Shaw, Michael Farber and David Shaw; four sisters, Mrs. Melvin Brandt (Ruth) Greeley, CO., Mrs. Bernard Bowling (Orpha) San Jose, CA., Mrs. Paul Christensen (Hazel) Fremont and Mrs. Don Gilbreath (Evelyn) Lyons. Two brothers, Floyd of Lyons and Earl of Upland, CA.; step-children, Mrs. Ned (Joan) Maryott of Britton, S.D., and Dick Schneider of Omaha; three step-grandchildren Dave Maryott, Rick Schneider and Mrs. Rick (Jan) Bauer, and two step-great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many friends..
