Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Ste. Marie, with burial in St. Mary Cemetery, St. Marie. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary Parish, Ste. Marie. Arrangements are under the care of Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home, Newton.
Marie was born Jan. 9, 1913, in Stringtown, the daughter of Sylvester and Dora (Zuber) Hahn. She married Bernard Ochs Sept. 9, 1936, and he preceded her in death June 12, 1980.
Marie was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Marie was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Ste. Marie, a charter member of Homemakers Education Association and member and past president of Ste. Marie American Legion Auxiliary. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed playing cards.
Marie is survived by nine children, Louis (Gloria) Ochs of Newton, Norbert (Jane) Ochs of Ste. Marie, Richard (Joyce) Ochs of West Liberty, Elizabeth "Betty" (George) Brummer of Island Grove, Florent (Judy) Ochs of Newton, Elmer (Marcia) Ochs of Ste. Marie, Gerald (Linda) Ochs of Newton, Ronald (Patti) Ochs of Newton and Francis (Jean) Ochs of West Liberty; sister, Katherine Muhs of Dundas; 25 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, Robert Hahn; one sister, Florence Anderson; and three grandchildren.
