It was first reported that Rodney was working from inside a cage, when the cage fell 249 feet, however, subsequent reports stated the top of the cage was open, and something fell on Rodney McCoy's head.
Born in East Liverpool on March 22, 1959, Cork was the son of Fred A. McCoy and Edna Corbett Bosworth McCoy.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Laughlin McCoy, whom he married September 9, 1987; two sons, Corey James Williams McCoy and Robert T. "Rob" McCoy, at home; a sister, Mrs John (Debbie) Merriman of Chester; two brothers, Fred J. McCoy of Puyallup, Washington, and Randy G. McCoy of Youngstown.
Services were conducted Friday at 2 pm by the Rev. Todd Laughlin, (Cork's brother-in-law) at the Dawson Funeral Home. Burial was to be made in Riverview Cemetery.
