Funeral: 10 a.m. Tuesday at DeBerry Funeral Home in Denton. Following the service, Doris will be laid to rest in Roselawn Cemetery.
Doris delighted her parents, Connie and Essie Harris, with her arrival on New Year's Day 1929 in Hemming. She attended New Elm, Sanger and Denton schools, graduating from Denton High in 1946. She married the love of her life, Van Teel, on Sept. 3, 1948.
The couple moved around Texas for Van's job with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. They welcomed the birth of their son, Mark, in 1956 while living in Nacogdoches and eventually settled in Colleyville, where Doris made many friends. She and Mark spent many fun weekends at her Aunt Bonnie's farm near Sanger. Doris worked at Stone Company Appliances as a bookkeeper and more.
While Mark, class of 1979, attended Texas A&M, she and Van, class of 1944, spent many weekends attending games and Corps of Cadets activities in College Station. She even drove there during finals to make sure Mark ate. Doris and Van continued to enjoy trips to A&M for many years. She delighted in her grandchildren's activities and success in competitive swimming. Her love, devotion and sacrifices for her family were huge.
Survivors: Doris leaves behind her loving husband, Van Elliott Teel; devoted son and daughter-in-law, Mark E. and Toni Teel, and their children, Ashleigh, Keith, Kynndal and Kennedy Teel, all of Kingwood; sisters, Dorothy Giles and Joyce Atkinson of Denton; and numerous nephews and nieces.
