1915 - 2008 Entered peacefully into rest in San Lorenzo on September 8, 2008. She was 93 years old. Born in Montana on February 15, 1915, Elvira was raised in San Francisco and attended All Girls High and Galileo High School. In her late teens, she moved with her family to the Rockridge area of Oakland to complete her education. She had graduated from Oakland Technical High School in 1932. This is where she met the love of her life and future husband, Joseph. Elvira was devoted to her family and took great pride in her daughters and all of their accomplishments in life. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and cooking. Elvira was also a member of the San Leandro Senior Center and also the Sunrise Seniors. Elvira, above all will always be remembered for her enthusiasm and will truly be missed by many. Elvira is survived by her loving daughters, Gloria A. Simon of Menlo Park and Joanne Ferro of Novato. She will be missed by her grandchildren, Angela Simon, Robert Simon, Elisa Reubens, and Sarah Wetmore, along with her great grandchildren, Max, Hannah, Keith, Gabriella, Katherine, Noah and Gabirel. She will always be remembered by her beloved sister, Marta Rescino of San Francisco. She also leaves behind her cherished caregiver, Celia Custodio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph J. Ferro in 2006. Visitation for Elvira will be on Sunday from 4 to 8 pm at Grissom's Chapel & Mortuary, 267 E. Lewelling Blvd.,San Lorenzo. A vigil service will be held on Sunday at 7 pm at the chapel. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday,10am at St. John's Catholic Church, 264 E. Lewelling Blvd.,San Lorenzo. She will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
