Elias Carr Hines was born March 20, 1827 in Raleigh,
Wake County, NC The son of: Richard and Anne Edmunds
Spruill. On January 19, 1859, he married Margaret Andrews Norfleet, born 1828, in the home of her parents, Thomas Figuers and Margaret Williams Andrews Norfleet by the Rev. B.S. Bronson of Grace Episcopal Church of Lewiston-Woodville, NC.
Elias, a Corporal in the Confederate Army of the Civil War served with Co. K, of NC. He died from complications of disease on April 14, 1862 and is buried at Trinity Episcopal Church Cemetery in Scotland Neck, Halifax County, NC. He was a Solicitor for the judicial district of Edenton, NC
He left 3 children: Richard Norfleet,Frank Gordon
and Frances Hines
