Frances graduated from Plano High School in 1938. She later went to Michigan, where she married Richard Martin and worked there until he entered the military service. After the war, she and her husband built a home in Sandwich, where they raised their four children. She was a Hospital Auxiliary Board Member and Volunteer for many years, a member of the Federated Church and Edgebrook C.C. She enjoyed golfing and was an active member of the Ladies League at Edgebrook.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, July 23, 2004 at Burkhart Funeral Home in Sandwich with the Pastor Ken Richie officiating. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery in Sandwich. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 PM on Thursday, July 22, 2004 at the Burkhart Funeral Home in Sandwich, IL. Memorials may be directed to Federated Church of Sandwich, DeKalb County Hospice or to a charity of one’s choice.
She is survived by her husband, Richard of Sandwich; one daughter, Becky (Steven) Schaffer of Memphis, TN; three sons, Richard A. (Rebecca) Martin of Charleston, IL, Ross (Patricia) Martin of Irvine, CA and Jeffrey (Carol) Martin of Tuscola, IL; twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Gerald (Eleanor) Dannewitz of Plano and one sister, Marcella (Arnold) Stewart of DeKalb.
