Services will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Glenn E. George Funeral Home, St. Paul, for John Franklin Paul, 82, St. Omer, who died Friday at 8:45 a.m. at Veterans Hospital, Marion. He had been in failing health three years and hospitalized seven weeks.
Burial will be in Jones Cemetery, with the Rev. Bill Bennett officiating.
Mr. Paul was a retired farmer and served with Troop C., U.S. Cavalry, from 1912-1915. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Born in Greenup, Illinois on December 22, 1893, Mr. Paul was the son of Dennis and Lavina (Lewis) Paul. On August 28, 1915, he married Zella A. Jones, who survives.
Also surviving are five children, J.D. Paul and Mrs. Bonnie Knight, both of St. Omer, Mrs. Audie (Hazel) Coker, Las Vegas, Nevada, Mrs. Herschel (Martha ) Holt, Waldron, and Mrs. Kenneth (Norma) Hayes, Yucca Valley, California; 24 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren, and one brother, William Paul, Greenup, Illinois. Two sons and six brothers and sisters preceded in death.
