Former Shelbyville resident, James D. "J.D." Paul, 77, Orlando, Florida, died at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Florida Hospital East, Orlando.
Mr. Paul was born June 11, 1916, in Mattoon, Illinois, the son of John and Zella (Jones) Paul.
Mr. Paul moved to Florida in 1982 after retiring as a self-employed plastering contractor. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Eagles Lodge and the American Legion, all in Shelbyville. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors are five sons, Ricky Paul and Dicky Paul, both of Shelbyville, Dana Paul and Scott Paul, both of Orlando, Florida; and Dennis Paul, Tulsa, Oklahoma; two daughters, Mrs. Larry (Tammie) Jones, Shelbyville and Joni Chambers, Orlando, Florida; four sisters, Hazel Coker, Las Vegas, Nevada, Norma Hayes, Yucca Valley, California, Martha Holt, Waldron, and Bonnie Knight, St, Omer, 16 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one grandson.
Services will be Thursday at the Glenn E. George Funeral Home, St. Paul, with the Rev. Robb Barlow officiating. Burial will be in Jones cemetery, near St. Paul.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by the American Legion and VFW.
