Flur W. Berryman, born May 12, 1916, died Sept. 6, 2008. He was 92 years old. He is preceded in death by his wife, Marie Ruth Bradford Berryman; and two daughters, Janice Berryman Morris and Rita Berryman Bragwell.
Mr. Berryman was blessed with 11 children, 21 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He is survived by nine of his children, Scott (Wynell) Berryman, Steven (Brenda) Berryman, Jeanne (J.C.) Manley, Cathy (David) Hughes, Dale (Ray) Hughes, Thalia (Clinton) Yarbrough, Dan (Sandra) Berryman, Andrew Berryman and Rhonda (Mark) Sorrells.
Mr. Berryman was a member of Roden Baptist Church. He was a World War II veteran of the 5th Armored Division, a devout Democrat, and a lifetime member of the Carpenters' Local No. 109.
Officiating at the service, held at Lawrence Funeral Home, were a special niece and nephew of Mr. Berryman's, Deborah Davis and David Berryman. Pallbearers were his grandsons, Jonathan Morris, Zachary Morris, Jason Berryman, Anthony Manley, Chesley Hughes, John Hughes, Paul Hughes, Clay Hughes, Chris Yarbrough, Evan Berryman, Everett Sorrells, Austin Sorrells and honorary pallbearers Connor and Jordan Sorrells. Mr. Berryman was buried in Mount Zion Cemetery. His intimate graveside military service included Taps, played on the trumpet by his grandson, Everett Sorrells, and songs sung by his son, Andrew Berryman, which included a special lullaby that Mr. Berryman sang to all his babies and The Lord's Prayer.
