Joseph Carbon, 97, a resident of family Heritage Nursing Home, formerly of Branch, died Monday evening, April 12, at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at First Reformed United Church of Christ, Manitowoc. The Rev. Arthur H. Wille will officiate and burial will be in Branch Evergreen Cemetery, Branch, Wis.
Mr. Carbon was born June 22, 1884, at Manitowoc, son of the late Joseph and Anna Peroutka Carbon Sr. As a child he moved to Branch with his family. He attended local schools. Mr. Carbon operated a Blacksmith Shop at Branch all his life. He married Blanche M. Titera, Aug. 31, 1920, at Waukegan, Ill. She preceded him in death Aug. 21, 1981. Mr. Carbon was a member of First Reformed United Church of Christ, charter member of Branch volunteer fire department, Manitowoc county Historical Society, former Branch school board member, former member and officer in Blacksmith and Welder Association.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Grace and Russell Rank of Kewaunee and Dorothy and Donald Krejcarek of Virginia Beach, Va.; a brother, John Carbon of Branch; three sisters, Mrs. Julia Cizek of Manitowoc, Mrs. Blnche Nelson of Manitowoc and Mrs. Lenora Schroder of Appleton; two grandsons, Captain Donald Krejcarek of Lawton, Okla. and David Krejcarek of Virginia Beach, Va.; four great grandchildren, Michelle, Amy, Laura and Michael Krejcarek; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday until 11 a.m. and then at the church from noon until the time of services.

Joseph Carbon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Carbon Sr., and Miss Blanche Titera, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Titera of Francis Creek, surprised their friends by slipping away quietly and getting married at Waukegan, Ill. They are now on a honeymoon trip. Upon their return they will reside at Branch where Mr. Carbon conducts a blacksmith shop.
