Charles Ora Kime, 68, of Sturgis, a former LaGrange resident, died at 4:30 p.m. Sunday in the Sturgis Memorial Hospital. He was taken to the hospital from his home early Sunday morning after suffering a heart attack.
Kime was born in LaGrange County on February 12, 1893, a son of John and Harriet (Chupp) Kime. He married Ruth Bowman in LaGrange on December 17, 1910.
In recent years Kime had been a painter and interior decorator. Prior to that he was a farmer.
He attended the Church of God at Sturgis.
Surviving are his wife; 5 daughters, Mrs. Gilbert (Florence) McDonald of LaGrange, Mrs. A.J. (Harriett) Miller of Farwell, Michigan and Mrs. James (Marjorie) Kidd, Mrs. Robert (Jean) Nusbaum and Mrs. Robert (Ruby) Persing, all of Sturgis; a son, Lee Kime of Sturgis; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Patterson of Jonesville, Michigan and Mrs. Anna Phelps of Union City, Michigan; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Six brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. yesterday at the Church of God in Sturgis. The Rev. Lawrence J. Beaver, pastor of the LaGrange Church of God, officiated. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery at Howe.
