I made a first pass today to edit the information in the original post.

Dunning John Presley Jr. married Martha Jane Wesson is not MILLIE. Millie Wesson is Martha Jane's mother. Millie Wesson is the spouse of Edward Wesson.

MARRIAGE ONE: 15 AUG 1861
Dunnin married Martha Jane Wesson Presley (Steel) 15 AUG 1861

Dunnin and Martha Jane had three children, all born in MS:

Dunnin and Martha Jane DID NOT have a child named Joshua.
Dunnin had Joshua with Emily Elizabeth, see below.

Dunnin married again in 1868, the same year Martha Jane died. However, Martha Jane was already re-married to William Steel and she died in 1868 during childbirth with Steel's child, Josephine.

Per the 1860 Monroe Co., TN census, Dunnin is not with Emily Elizabeth Pope and her children when the enumerator visited the home. Emily's children were all born in TN. Emily's children are all step or half-siblings to children from the first marriage, Dunnin and Martha Jane.
It could be that did Dunnin did not marry Emily during their previous relationship or he wanted them all to take his name once they did marry.

Dunnin and Parthena had no issue, she died in 1881.

Per the 1880 Washington Co, AR Census dated 16 June 1880
Dunnin is a boarder with Thomas Pierce and Martha J Ford Pierce and their three children, William D Ford, Jacob N Ford and Susan M Ford.
Dunnin Presley was listed as age 52, born in TN, states he is a widowed, farmer, cannot read or write.

MARRIAGE FOUR: 18 MAR 1882
Dunnin marries Harriet Henrietta Toy on 18 MAR 1882 Benton Co., Arkansas.
Dunnin was 55 and Toy was 20 at the time of their marriage in 1882.

DUNNIN'S MILITARY RECORDS:
On 1 NOV 1847, at the age of 20, Dunnin enlisted at Knoxville as a private in Captain Jno. C Vaughn's Company of the 5th Reg of TN volunteers.

Between FEB 1848 and APR 1848, Dunnin's Reg served in the war with Mexico; Dunnin was in San Juan, Mexico, and in May 1848 Dunnin was at National Bridge, Mexico.

By 2 JUL 1848, Dunnin was on board a ship returning to the USA where he was discharged at Memphis on 20 JUL 1848.

Active 9 NOV 1847 to 20 JUL 1848, VA records have a Dunnan Pressley, as a PVT Co C 5 Tenn Vol Inf, record at Pierce City, Mo. This is possibly a different Dunnin.

On 7 NOV 1848, Dunnin was issued a warrant for 160 acres of land based on his Army service. The warrant was sent to Dunnin in care of Rufus Smith in Madisonville TN.

On 11 MAY 1863, Dunnin enlisted at Grenada Miss, in Co E Hamm's Reg. Miss Calvary.

From 18 JAN 1863 to 30 JUN 1863, Dunnin was listed as deserted and absent without leave. He returned to his unit for the final roll call.

Dunning may have been derived from the Scottish Gaelic name spelled DUNOON, but pronounced DANUN or DUHNUN.
