Mrs. Marshall B. Clarke.

Marie A. Carrier, wife of the late Marshall B. Clarke, who died in New York on tho 11th ist., was the elder daughter of the late Cyrus Carrier, for many years a prominent and highly respected citizen of Oswego, well remembered by older residents.

Mrs. Clarke was born in Oswego October 20, 183(5, and was married to Marshall B. Clark, second son of the late Edwin W. Clarke, Esq., on June 8, 1859, and resided in Oswego until 1893 when she went to New York to be with her son, Marshall H. Clarke, Esq., of that city.

To an unusal degree, Mrs. Clarke maintained a close and real companionship with her children throughout her life and her death is an Irreparable loss to them. She is survived by her three sons, William A. and Marshall H. of New York and Cyrus C. of Cleveland, Ohio, and by a sister Helen S. Carrier of New York and a brother, Dr. Frederic Carrier of Phildelphia.

The funeral will be held at the residence of Mr. Frederick O. Clarke Sunday afternoon, July 14th at 4 o'clock to which her friends are
invited.

There are many who still remember the cheerful courage and devotion with which Mrs. Clarke, left a widow at the age of 36, undertook the training and education of her three young sons, to whom her life was devoted.

To a character marked by absolute unselfishness she added the energy and enthusiasm of youth. She traveled extensively and had the gift of finding new interest and charm in old places, and of sharing with friends the pleasure of it all
