LOIS FOOTE JACOBUS, a resident of the Somerville Community and wife of the late Otha Jacobus, died at 12:30 P.M. Monday, September 8, 2008 at the National Healthcare Center in Somerville where she had resided for three years. She was 94 years of age.

Funeral services for Mrs. Jacobus were conducted at 2 P.M. Thursday, September 11th at Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with the Rev. Loyd Shelton, Baptist Minister of Rossville, officiating. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Jacobus was born January 14, 1914, in Fayette County the daughter of the late John L. Foote and the late Ida Belle Duncan Foote early residents of the Somerville area. She was educated in the Fayette County Public School System and was married to the late Otha Charles Jacobus, who preceded her in death in 1963.

Mrs. Jacobus was a United States Civil Service Employee for over 30 years before her retirement and lived in various states during Mr. Jacobus' Management Career with area companies. She was a member of the Baptist Church during her early lifetime and later joined the Highland Heights United Methodist Church in Memphis where she was active in numerous church activities as long as health permitted.

Mrs. Jacobus enjoyed growing flowers throughout her life and while a resident of Memphis was an active member of the Memphis Garden Club and her community bridge club. She will be remembered for her love of travel with family and friends.

Survivors of Mrs. Jacobus include four sons: Donald Jacobus of San Jose, CA; John Jacobus of Atlanta, GA; William Jacobus of Orlando, FL and Paul Jacobus of Stephenville, TX; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, including several who reside in Fayette County.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Donald Jacobus, John Jacobus, William Jacobus, Paul Jacobus, Chuck Baker and Jerry Oliver.
