Roy Britton Owens was the husband of Flora Mae Stout Owens whom he married 10 Apr 1927 in Lawrence Co., Tennessee.

Tennessee Death IndexRoy Britten Owens, 73, of Route 1, Five Points, TN, died Saturday May 13, 1978 at Scott Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. He was a native of Alabama, a member of the Five Points United Methodist Church, former magistrate of Lawrence County, a former member of the Lawrence County Equalization Board and he served on the hospital board for 12 years. He is a retired farmer. He was the son of the late James Madison Owens and Josephine Evans Owens.

Funeral Services were held Monday May 15, 1978, 1:00 p.m. at the Loretto Memorial Chapel with Reverend Bobby Gobble and Reverend Henry Yeager officiating. Burial was at Union Hill Cemetery with Loretto Memorial Chapel in charge of all arrangements.

He is survived by his wife, Mae Stout Owens, Five Points; one daughter, Mrs. Winnie Owens Pierce, Aiken, SC.; one foster-son, Dr. Nelson Owens, Birmingham, AL; one sister, Mrs. Vera Newton, Leoma, two half-sisters: Mrs. Ettus McEachern, Birmingham, and Mrs. Lillie Barber, St. John MI and 4 grandchildren.
