Mrs. Clara J. Smutz, 80, Stockport, died Wednesday, May 9, 1973 at Van Buren Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua.

She was born Aug. #0, 1892, in Bonaparte, the daughter of Darius and Anna Clark Derr. She married Sam. S. Smutz in Bonaparte Feb. 12, 1917. He died Jan. 18, 1973. She was a member of Stockport Order of Eastern Star, Stockport United Methodist Church circle and Royal Neighbors.

Surviving are two sons, Waldo of Keosauqua, and Ted of Columbus, Ohio; one brother, Oscar Derr of Los Angeles.
Funeral was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Stockport United Methodist church; burial in Hillsboro Cemetery. Burch funeral home of Birmingham in charge of arrangements.
