John Ransom Spradley, 84, life-long resident of Panola County, died at his home in Reeves Community Saturday at 1 p.m. He had been in failing health for some time.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Reeves Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery.

Mr. Spradley was a former Panola county commissioner and was a member of the Reeves Church. He was the father of County Sheriff Johnnie Spradley.

Surviving are his wife; three sons, including the sheriff and Guy Spradley and Ellis H. Spradley, both of Shreveport; a daughter, Mrs. Connie [sic Bonnie] Thomas, Carthage; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
