Cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend will be greatly missed by all who knew her. During her treasured life she touched the lives and hearts of her relatives and many friends with her gentle, loving way. She was a devoted Christian and shared her relationship with the Lord with everyone she knew. She faithfully prayed for and encouraged her family and exemplified her love of Christ in her daily walk through life.
She was born at home on July 4, 1928 in Callahan County, Texas. She grew up in Coleman, Texas where she met her beloved husband, David Alvin Altom, and they made their home in Brownwood before moving to Irving. They shared 36 wonderful years together. Emmer was a kind, loyal friend who always made time for those in need and treasured the time she spent with family and friends. She was a member of Northgate Church of Christ in Irving.
She is preceded in death by her husband David Altom, her dad, Ritchie Perkins, her mother, Myrtle Perkins and younger brother R. D. Perkins. In this world she leaves behind her daughter, Jean Altom; granddaughter, Aimee and husband Chris Pinkerton; brother, David Thomas Perkins and wife Carolyn; sisters, Nellie Ransberger and husband Barry; Betty Glenn; and Fay Harrell along with many nieces and nephews.
