Floral offerings, which were so numerous that they filled the entire front of the church, and had to be taken to the cemetery in a truck, were handled by group of flower bearers furnished by the Effingham Woman's Club and by the American Legion Auxiliary. Hundreds of local people and representatives of every city in this part of this state, rode in solemn procession or gathered on the streets to pay a farewell tribute to an outstanding citizen. Past state commanding officers of the American Legion and past and present officials of the various districts and divisions from over the state were in attendance. This was one of the largest funeral ever held in this part of the state.

This paper extends its heartfelt sympathy to the family of Mr Austin.
