Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, September 18, at Lambeth- Troxler Funeral Chapel with Lay Pastor Sharon Allred Decker officiating. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
Mrs. Blackwell was born January 9, 1934, in Guilford County, to the late Walter and Lillie Purvis. Jean was employed by Cone Mills in their administrative department and was an active volunteer with many associations involving persons with disabilities and senior citizens.
She was predeceased by her husband, Louis H. "Sam" Blackwell, Sr.
Survivors include two sons, Louis H. Blackwell, Jr., and wife, Kathy of Albany, Ga., Timothy H. Blackwell and wife, Wendy of Greensboro; four grandsons, Zachary Hayes of Albany, Ga., Joshua E. Blackwell, Jacob N. Blackwell , Jordan T. Blackwell all of Greensboro; one brother, Marvin Purvis of Greensboro.
