Mrs. Arvilla Elizabeth Harris Wise, 71, wife of C. Walter Wise, died at the Miami County hospital early Saturday morning, March 9, 1957. Mrs. Wise suffered from diabetes and recently underwent an amputation of a toe in a Kansas City hospital. Last week she entered the local hospital for further amputation, This time above the knee. Her weakened condition could not withstand the ordeal and she slipped quietly away on the fourth day following the operation.

Mrs. Wise was born January 10, 1886 in Paola, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Harris. On October 30, 1906 she was married to C. Walter Wise and they have always lived in Paola with the exception of five years in Kansas City. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last October. No children were born to them but they took into their home and reared as their own her nephew, Joe Glen Roesen, now living in Kansas City.

She is survived by her husband, the nephew and a niece, Mrs. May Locke of Kansas City, who has been with her during her illness. Mrs. Wise was a home loving person and she devoted her energy and time to her home and family. To all who knew her closely she was affectionately called "Aunt Vid."

The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock this Monday, afternoon at the Wilson & Son chapel. Dr. Max Deweese, pastor of the first Christian church, will officiate. Mrs. Wallace Sickert, accompanied by Mrs. Berkeley Carver, will sing "Love's Offering" and "Come Unto Me." Pallbearers will be Robert Fickel of Bartlesville, Okla; William Fickel of Borger, Texas, Leslie Huls of Perkins, Okla.; T.D. Crawford, Wm Gatlin and Harry June. Interment will be in the Paola cemetery.
