She was the wife of David Lee Travis Sr. Her parents were Noah and Hazel Langley. She had 3 children: Ronald Todd Carpenter, Kevin Lee Travis, and Shannon Paige Travis Davis.

SHELBY - Mrs. Judy Carol Langley Travis, 66, of 830 Mull St., died Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, at home.

A native of Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Noah S. and Hazel Prestage Langley. Mrs. Travis was a mem-ber of New Bethel Church of Shelby and the Red Hat Society. She retired from Kemet Industries and worked at Putnam Baptist Church Pre-school. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed cooking, reading and collecting angels and birdhouses.

In addition to her parents, a brother, Mickey Ray Langley, and her first husband, Ronald Todd Carpenter, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, David Travis; three sons, Kevin Travis and wife, Bonnie, of Denver, Todd Carpenter and wife, Carol, and David Travis Jr. and wife, Lisa, all of Shelby; two daughters; Shannon Davis and husband, Perry, of Kings Mountain and Susan Litaker of Charlotte; one brother, Ernest Langley and wife, Maxine, of Shelby; one sister; Annette Pruitt and husband, Bob, of Springdale, Ark.; 10 grandchildren, Ryan Legere, Timmy Chavis, Kyle Travis, Justin Car-penter, Miranda Davis, Connor Donahue, John and Brittni Hendrick, Blake Davis and Riley Travis; and one great-granddaughter, Cheyenne Carpenter.

Visitation: The family will receive friends Wednesday, Sept. 24, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, New Bethel Church of Shelby

Burial: Sunset Cemetery
