: Kate Raleigh Van Vleet was the daughter of Bernard Raleigh and Ann Barnes, both immigrants from Ireland. They made their home in Exeter Township, Michigan, in Monroe County. By 1870, Kate and two of her siblings, Jane and Walter, had moved into nearby Adrian, Michigan, where Kate and Jane worked as milliners and Walter studied law. Walter passed away in 1871, around the age of 20.
Kate married Seba Van Vleet, marrying after the death of his first wife. They married in Monroe, Michigan on January 20, 1876 and had one son, Donald Lewis Van Vleet (1881-1956).
Links to source documents supporting the changes made the narrative here can be accessed from her Wikitree profile. I haven't had time yet to create profiles for her birth family, only her husband and son, but information is available on Ancestry.com. I haven't linked documents to them in FamilySearch yet.
