Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Marshall, with Fr. Kevin Gormley officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church with prayer service following at 10 a.m. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. Pallbearers will be Tim Butner, Brad Butner, Brian Cook, Steven Butner, Adam Kent, Tom Butner, Greg Cook and Alex Kent. Memorials may be made to Big Bend Retreat in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall.
Born Sept. 14, 1931, in Clarence, she was the daughter of the late Mark M. Hogan and Dorothy E. Lochner Hogan. On Sept. 22, 1949, she married Vincil L. Butner, who survives of the home. She had lived in Marshall since 1993, moving from Independence, and retired as a licensed practical nurse in 1993 from Truman Medical Center-East. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Marshall, where she was active in the parish for many years and had served as president of the Altar & Rosary Society.
Additional survivors include three sons, Dr. Michael R. Butner and his wife, Vicki, of Cape Girardeau, Mark D. Butner and his wife, Julie, of Marshall and Matthew J. Butner and his wife, Nancy, of Kansas City; two daughters, Mary M. Cook and her husband, Michael, of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Ann M. Kent and her husband, Richard, of Independence; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Joseph Hogan of Winfield; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Timothy J. Butner; one sister, Teresa Hogan; and one brother, Edward Hogan.
