Ida Keitel was born Oct 27, 1845 to Johann Heinrich Keitel and Martha Magadalena Prohaskÿ (also seen as Prohersky/Proharska) and baptized Nov 9 at Andreas and Mauritius parish in Erfurt, Germany. They emigrated to the U.S. departing from Hamburg, Germany and arriving in New York Harbor on the ship "Gerhardt" on June 9, 1856. John and Magdalena had 4 known children: Maria Elisabeth(married Johann Liebl, Sr.), Anna Dorothea (married Charles Wiskow, Sr.), Ida, and Johann Theodor (married Maria P. Marx). Magdalena passed away Oct. 21, 1873 in Polk, Washington County, WI, whereupon on Jan 5, 1874 Johann married his 2nd wife Henrietta Appelt, (nee Bergner, born 1832 in Germany, died Jul 3 1907 in Sheboygan County. Henrietta's first husband was Johann Appelt)
Johann Keitel was a Lutheran minister at St. Paul's Singer (Wisconsin Synod)for a short time. He is buried in Wildwood Cemetery. Martha's burial site is unknown.

Ida married John Hoffmann on March 28, 1967 in Holy Cross Catholic Church. They had 8 known children:
Theodore b.1866 d.1871
Peter b.1869 d.1871
Henry b.1869-1870
Anna b.1873 d.1969
Mary b.1874 d.1957
Peter b.1875
Margaretha b.1878
Elisabeth Adeline b.1881 d.1970

Ida died on Jan. 27, 1906 in Manitowoc County at the Manitowoc County Home for the Chronic Insane, cause of death (sp?) Exopthalinu Gewite.

One interesting note: on the 1900 US Federal Census for Fredonia, John is living with his daughter Elizabeth, and is listed as widowed, yet Ida didn't die until 1906.
