Mr. Thomas Moody, for 30 years a resident of this city, died yesterday at the home of his son, Mr. Al. E. Moody, at 11 East Hill street, where he had resided for several years. he was 76 years old. Death was due to the infirmities of age.
In 1884 Mr. Moody came to Charlotte with his family to live. Prior to that time he had resided in Raleigh, where he was a member of Christ Episcopal Church. Since he came here he had been a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church.
The funeral will be conducted at the residence of Mr. Al Moody this afternoon at 4 o'clock by Rev. Francis M. Osborne, rector of the Church of the Holy Comforter. The pallbearers will be Messrs. M. M. Wallace, W. H. Allen, R. T. Freeland, W. A. Cruse, C. W. Jetton and Mark Stewart.
Mr. Moody was a mechanic of high skill. For 25 years he was employed at the plant of the Mecklenburg Iron Works. His retirement from work at the expiration of that period was actuated by a desire to be with his wife who was in frail health for everal years prior to her death in August, 1913. He was a man of character and integrity.
Two sons survive. They are Messrs. Al Moody of this city and W. F. Moody, who is in the treasurer's office at Raleigh. Another son, Mr. Pat Moody, died here March 24. The following grand-children also survive: Misses Dolly, Mildred, Burke and Dorr Eagle, and Charles and Fred Eagle, children of Mrs. F. D. Eagle, who died some years ago; Billy Moody, son of Mr. W. F. Moody, and Miss Marvel Moody, daughter of Mr. Al Moody.
