Grandpa was a quiet hard working man. He attended Weber State College and was a Rancher by trade. Along with cattle grandpa planted a nice size orchard with many varieties of fruit. I remember chickens by the thousands. I would go with grandpa to pick up the baby chicks sometimes when they came in by train. Mother told me they also raised pigs at one time. Grandpa taught me how to milk a cow. He loved his horses and often hunted on horseback. He loved to fish. He would often grab his pole after a days work and head for Burrison’s Ponds or up to Salt Creek. I think it was his alone time to think and unwind from the day. I also remember if you wanted anything you always went to grandpa. He always said yes. I learned a lot from him.
