Daughter of James B. and Effie Mae (Stewart) DeAtley, Alice grew up at Gibbonsville, ID. Her mother died in a stage accident when Alice was just 13. She married Max William Bauer on March 22, 1922 in Gibbonsville. They had 9 children; Virginia, Harry, Maxine, Clarence, Carl, Kenneth, Charles, James & Bessie.
After the death of her husband, Max in 1959, Alice went to live in Pocatello with her daughter Virginia "Vera". She also traveled to visit her other children and her grandchildren. She loved all children and animals. She spent many hours playing cards.....Solitary. Alice was partially deaf. Before her eyesight failed due to cataracts she wrote many letters to family members. She always signed these with hugs and kisses. XOXOXOXOXO.
