Vera grew up in Gibbonsville, ID the oldest of 9 children born to Max W. and Alice May (DeAtley) Bauer. In 1940 she married Otis Bailey and they had one child; Carol. Later divorced, Vera married Don Armstrong in 1952. Don died in 1971. Vera worked at Kraft Foods for many years. She also took care of her widowed mother Alice until her death in 1985. Vera died from Emphysema.
