Elaine Ridley, 84, loving mother and grandmother, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday at Broadway Baptist Church, Dr. Brett Younger and Dr. Jorene Swift officiating. Interment: Forest Lawn Cemetery in Dallas.
Elaine was born Nov. 19, 1922, in Oklahoma, daughter of the late Charles Daniel and Nina Eugenia Mizell Sumrall. She worked as a hairstylist for more than 30 years in Dallas, eventually owning her own salon before she retired. She was a member of Ferguson Road Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years.
After moving to Fort Worth in 1994, Elaine became an active member of Broadway Baptist Church. She was president of The Felicia Class and chair of its Ministries Committee. She participated in Tuesday Bible Study, The Rejebian Book Club, and Senior Games Day. Elaine was also a member of The Woman's Club and O.E.S.
In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her son, John Daniel Ridley; five brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors: Her children, Kim McGartland of Fort Worth, Gary Ridley and his wife, Kim, of Mesquite, and Suzette Valentine and her husband, Buzzy, of Edgewood; their father, John C. Ridley; grandchildren, Ryan, Natalie, Sarah, Seth, Rachel, Kelly, Venice and Marsha; several great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Ferguson; and brothers, Bob and Billy Jack Sumrall.
