Laurel sat down on the church steps where a nun found her. The nun asked Laurel if she knew her name. Laurel responded that her name was "Lolly Pop Duncan".
The nun then asked if she knew her mother's name to which Laurel responded "Sister Duncan".
Laurel was 7-8 years old when the family moved to Bountiful, Utah. She later graduated from Bountiful High School and then met and married Bruce Olson. Together they had 4 children; Christopher, Jessica, Duncan and Makinzie.
Laurel was killed in a 4 wheeling accident when the truck she was in rolled.

She was born Sept 11, 1961, the daughter of John L. and Arba Day Duncan in Bellevue, WA. She married Bruce Olson July 31, 1982 in Bountiful, UT. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Laurel was a special daughter of our Heavenly Father, a loving mother not only to her own children but also to those of her day-care. She was a loving wife and sister whose influence and love will be felt for the rest of our lives.
She is survived by her husband, Bruce, Thatcher; four children, Christopher James Olson, Jessica Olson, Makinzie Olson, Duncan John Olson, all of Thatcher; mother, Arba Duncan, Bountiful; one brother, John G. Duncan, Bountiful; and four sisters, Jeril Ana Brown, Magna, Lana Good-win, Atascadero, CA, Shari Green, Pleasanton, CA, Katherine Erekson, Everett, WA. Her father preceded her in death.
Interment, Bothwell Valley View Cemetery.
