To many, he was known simply as "Gordon" Kidd or Dr. Gordon Kidd. From his obituary, as it appeared in the Wabash Plain Dealer in Wabash, Indiana on Thursday, April 5, 1973:

"Dr. James Gordon Kidd, 83, Timbercrest Retirement Home, died at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Fort Wayne Veteran's Hospital."

"He was a Roann native and graduated from Roann High School. He practiced medicine in Roann until 1956 when he started his practice at Wood Veteran's Hospital near Milwaukee, Wisconsin until his retirement in 1962."

"He graduated from Indiana University and Indiana University School of Medicine. He was a member of the Indiana University Alumni Association, the American Medical Association, a 50-year member of the State Medical Association, a 50-year member of the Roann Masonic Lodge and a member of the Roann Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Roann American Legion, and a World War I veteran."

From Three Generations of Dr. Kidd by James Van Buskirk as it appeared in the "Roann's Jubilee in 1953" booklet in 1953:

"Dr. James Gordon Kidd, his son*, who has followed in serving the medical needs of this community, was born June 24, 1889. He graduated from Roann High School in 1907, and received his M. D. degree from Indiana University in 1913. Following his internship at Indianapolis General Hospital, he engaged in general practice with his father in Roann from 1914 to 1917 when he enlisted in the Army Medical Corps with the commission of First Lieutenant. After his discharge in 1919 as a Captain he resumed his practice in Roann for about a year. He then entered the U. S. Public Health Service and served in the Veterans' Administration until 1926."

"In that year, Dr. Kidd returned to Roann and has since served the community true to the highest priciples of the medical profession. He has been materially assisted through the years by his wife, Orlena Kidd, a registered nurse, who has generously contributed her services when needed."

Dr. Gordon Kidd's siblings were Eva Marie (Kidd) Mooney (1975-1945), Earl E. Kidd (1878-1885), Clara M. (Kidd) Guinnup (1880-1978), Herman Dicken Kidd (1882-1968), and Mabel (Kidd) Chandler (1886-1972).

His parents and all his children are buried in the Roann Community Cemetery. His paternal grandparents, Capt. Edmund J. Kidd (1793-1861) and Christiana (DeCamp) Kidd (1803-1883) are burried in the Paw Paw Cemetery in Richland Township, Miami County, Indiana. His material grandparents, Dr. James L.
