He was a veteran of WWI;the Postmaster of Belmont, N.C.from 1930-1944. (approx.). and a member of American Legion Post 144. He was survived by his wife Flonie Stowe Jefferson, daughters Annie Laurie and Colette Jefferson and son William M. (Bill) Jefferson all of the home. His funeral was at Main St. (First United) Methodist Church in Belmont, N.C. with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
