EDWIN EBBERT, PIONEER, DIES
Former Spink County Legislator to be buried tomorrow in Doland.
Edwin L. Ebbert, well known in Beadle and Spink County political and agricultural circles, died at his home in Union Township, five miles north of the Beadle County line in Spink County, yesterday. Death followed a week's illness.
The funeral service will be held at the home tomorrow afternoon at 1 o'clock. The Rev. Mr. Hart of Doland will officiate and burial will be in the Doland Cemetery.
Mr. Ebbert came to South Dakota with his father in the spring of 1883. The farm, which they then homesteaded on, remained the property and home of Mr. Ebbert until his death. In the fall of 1894 he was married to Gertrude McDonald.
In his locality for a period of nearly 40 years he served various capacities, as school clerk for 18 years, and township clerk for 20 years. In the sessions of 1921-1923 he represented Spink County in the state legislature.
In the fields of politics and agriculture Mr. Ebbert has been recognized for many years as one of the leaders of his county. For 15 years he had been a member of the board of directors of the Farmers Elevator of Doland. For 40 years he was an active member of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
Surviving him are the widow, Mrs. Edwin L. Ebbert, two sons, Walter and Russell, one daughter, Corrinne and one brother, Glenn E. Ebbert of Doland.
