Howard H. Hazeltine Sr., 76, of Concord died Friday, Sept. 26, 2008, at the Manchester VA Medical Center nursing home.
He was U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War and for 16 years with the 3643 Maintenance National Guard.
Howard worked at Sprague Electric for more than 32 years. He enjoyed singing country in the Sprague Electric minstrel shows. He loved camping and spending time at Myrtle Beach. Howard belonged to Boutwells Senior Bowling League and was an avid NASCAR fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially around the holidays.
He made many friends at the nursing home whom he thoroughly enjoyed, in particular Douglas Kennedy, who kept him in line.
Howard is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 40 years, Beverly (Heath) Hazeltine; two sons, Howard Hazeltine Sr. of Florida and Dennis Hazeltine of Bow; three stepsons, Bob Sargent and his wife, Doree, of Belmont, Dan Sargent and friend Lynn Paradysz of Canterbury, John S. Sargent and friend Tanya Bragdon of Concord, and daughter-in-law Karen Sargent of Concord; 15 grandchildren, of whom Matthew, Michael, Mikayla, Joshua, Kyle, Dylan, Megan, Nicole and Travis Sargent loved him dearly; his sister-in-law, Barbara Lord; his loving brothers, Harry Hazeltine of Concord and Lyle Hazeltine of Boscawen; his loving nieces, Deb Barlow of Bow and Cindy Merchant of Concord; many nieces and nephews; and his grand-dog "Sasha."
A memorial visitation will be held Wednesday from noon to 2 p.m. at Waters Funeral Home, 50 S. Main St. in Concord.
A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at the chapel of the Waters Funeral Home. The Rev. Steve Garnass-Holmes will officiate.
Burial will follow at the Alexander Cemetery in Bow.
