Bathurst (Glouc. Co.) Aug. 26 - A terrible shooting took place at Clifton about 18 miles from here about five this morn. Two men belonging to the circus fell. One of them William Spearing, fell dead and Amos Wagner of Liverpool, N.S. was wounded, it is suppose, beyond hopes of recovery.

Bathurst (Glouc. Co.) Aug. 27 - It is now thought that the sheriff has succeeded in arresting all the persons implicated in the shooting of Spearin and Wagner at Clifton. The names of those arrested were Wm. W. Eddy, John Peters, Wm. Peters, Wm. Sargeant, John Glendarin and Richard Jago. The coroner's jury found a verdict of wilful murder against William Eddy. Amos Wagner's condition remains unchanged. His brother Andrew Wagner, who was kicked, is improving.

Wm. Spearin of Calais (Maine) was murdered at Clifton new Bathurst (Glouc. Co.) about 5 o'clock Thursday morn. Amos Wagner of Liverpool, N.S. was seriously injured. Spearin was interred in the Church of England Burying Ground.
