GRAVE # 156..Judge Robert James Love was born in 1816 to Robert Love and Mary Sarah Shelburn Love in Lunenburg County, VA.

He was related to the white slave owner Love Family that lived in Warren County, NC and Halifax County, NC which is about 50 miles from Lunenburg County, VA.

Following the opening of new lands in the state of Mississippi after 1830, the white Love Family became pioneer settlers in the new territories and settled in the present day Lizelia Community in Daleville, Lauderdale County, MS.

Judge Robert James Love married Nannie Cole, the daughter of William Cole and Harriet Cornelia Ellerbee Cole, who was a native of Lizelia Community in present day Daleville, Lauderdale County, MS, and they had one child, a son. Nannie's parents moved to Mississippi between the years of 1834-1838 and arrived in Lauderdale County to build their new home. Nannie family's plantation home was a double-tiered, double-galleried Carolina-style construction reflecting Federal and Greek revival influences. The Coles operated a large cotton plantation at Lizelia (old Daleville, MS) for many years and owned many slaves.

His wife, Nannie Cole Love, died at the age of 17 on September 24, 1851 exactly two weeks after the birth of their son, William Cole Love, who was born September 10, 1851.

After Nannie's death, Judge Robert James Love fell in love with his mulatto slave servant by the name of Hannah Love who came to Lauderdale County, MS from North Carolina with the white Love Family and she eventually settled in the Key Town Community in Kemper County, MS.

He was the father of all of Hannah's ten mulatto children, six daughters and four sons. It is noted and proven where Judge Robert James Love legally willed Hannah and his mulatto children hundreds of acres of land.

He was a judge in the state of Carolina and served in Kemper County, MS as well.

He left Mississippi and moved to Bell County, TX and died there on October 2, 1879 at the age of 63.

He was the Husband of Nannie Cole Love; the Significant Other of Hannah Love; the Father of William Cole Love, Judy Love Bourrage, Charles Love, John Love, Lucy Love Cole, Dinah Love, Moady "Moad" Love, Pleasant Love McCallebb, Robert Love, Mary Love, and Anne Love; the Son of Robert Love and Mary Sarah Shelburn Love; the Brother of Sarah C. Love Walker, Elvira Hicks Love, Mary Pettus Love Oliver, Hannah Pettus Love McIntosh, Hicks Love, and David Love; the Paternal Grandson of Isaac Love and Martha Chappell Love; and the Maternal Grandson of Rev. James Shelburn and Annie Pettus Shelburn.
