He was born Jan. 3, 1942, in Melrose, Mass., to Raymond and Hilda (Saley) Woodland.
He was a longtime resident of Alton.
He was employed by the auto body shop of Manter Oldsmobile Pontiac in Laconia for almost 40 years and became the foreman and safety coordinator. He later worked at Irwin Motors in Laconia, until his retirement.
He was a lieutenant in the Alton Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years.
He enjoyed repairing the local vintage fire trucks, as well as camping and hiking with his family, writing poetry, woodworking and model trains.
At Alton Community Church he was a trustee and member of the board of Christian education.
He was also active in the Christian Motorcyclists Association.
IN HIS LIFE: Jack is survived by his wife, Janelle (Moore) Woodland, of Alton; his daughters, Suzanne Woodland and her husband, John Kayser, of Greenland, N.H. and Christine Fritschka and her husband, Tom, of Gilmanton, N.H., his stepsons, Keith Wentworth and his wife, Stephanie, of Laconia N.H., and Scott Wentworth of San Diego, Calif.; his brother, Robert Woodland, of Woburn, Mass., as well as three grandchildren, Hillary J. Kayser, Emily E. Kayser and Alyssa Fritschka; three nephews and two nieces. His first wife, Eileen Woodland, predeceased him as did his older brother, Donald Woodland.
SERVICES: Calling hours are Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia.
A memorial service is Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Community Church of Alton, Church Street, with Pastor Larry Adams officiating.
Burial will be in New Riverside Cemetery, Alton.
