Edwin D. Casler, age 81, a lifelong resident of the town of Pine Grove, died suddenly on April 2 at his home, following a heart attack. Mr. Casler was born on June 17, 1860 in Pine Grove, a son of Charles and Julia Casler. He had spent his entire life in Pine grove. His marriage to Mary E. Gruber took place on February 17, 1890. Surviving are two sons, Harold and Carl Casler of Pine Grove and eight grandchildren. Mrs. Casler was town supervisor of Pine Grove for 10 successive years. Funeral services were held last Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the family home. Rev. C. H. Wiese officiated and burial took place in Pine Grove Cemetery. Hymns were sung by Mrs. Ray Millington and Mrs. John Petrick. The pallbearers were Frank King, Vere Burrows, Myron Beggs, Ralph Waterman, Carl Knudson and Squire Ostrander. Those from away included his grandson, Arlie Casler, of Great Lakes naval training station; Harriet Casler of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Casler of Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Heinig of Wausau and many others from Stevens Point and the nearby vicinity.

Edwin O. Casler, long-time resident of the town of Pine Grove, died suddenly at his home April 2, 1942. He was born June 17, 1860, in the town of Pine Grove, county of Portage, a son of Charles and Julia Casler Hamilton, and resided there all his life. February 17, 1890 he was married to Mary E. Gruber. Two sons, Harold and Carl of the town of Pine Grove, survive him, together with eight grandchildren. Mr. Casler was a man respected by neighbors and for ten years served as town supervisor. Funeral services were held at the home at 1:30 p. m. on April 5, the Rev. C. H. Wiese Methodist minister, officiating and interment was made in the Pine Grove cemetery. The pallbearers were Frank King, Vere Burrows, Myron Beggs, Ralph Waterman, Karl Knudson and Squire Ostrander. Those from away who attended the funeral were Arlie Casler of the Great Lakes training station, Chicago, Harriet Casler, Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Casler, Neillsville, Mrs. Flora Casler-Lea of King, Henry, Charles and Archie Cram and wives of Stevens Point, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Heinig, Stevens Point, Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Walker, and Miss Effie Hamilton and Marion Hansen, Almond, Mrs. Chas. Stevens, Plainfield and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Coates and sister of Stevens Point.
