Hans N. Bonde Buried Friday at D-Lake
Funeral services were held on Friday Oct. 2nd, at the Diamond Lake church for Hans N. Bonde, 58 who died at Veterens Hospital, Hot Springs, S.D. Burial was in Diamond Lake cemetery.
Hans N. Bonde was born July 5, 1895 in Shelby County, Iowa, the son of Niels and the late Mrs. Bonde. He grew to manhood in Iowa and was a veteran of World War I, serving for 3 years. He enlisted Nov. 20, 1916 and received his honorable discharge from service Nov. 19th 1919. He served for several months on overseas duty.
He had been in ill-health for some time and was hospitalized at Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls S.D. prior to transfer to Hot Springs, S.D. where he was ill for six weeks prior to his passing. Death was due to a blood clot.
Surviving are his father, Niels Bonde; two brothers, Carl and Clarence, and a sister, Mrs. Chas. Hanson, all of Lake Benton, and one sister, Mrs. Nels Wokson of Rogers, Minn. his mother preceded him in death in 1903.
Pallbearers were Harold and Elwin Simonsen, Virgil Hind, Martin Larsen, Herman Johnson, and Peter Bruhn.
Out of town relatives present for the last rites were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Daugaard, their son in law and daughter of Dell Rapids, S.D.; Mr. and Mrs Edwin Willesen, Manning, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs Thomas Thomsen, Laurens, Ia. Miss Mary Hansen and Miss Alma Hansen, Storm Lake, Ia.; MR. and Mrs Albert Widmark and daughter, and Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Widmark, Ivanhoe.
