Dr. Robert E. "Bob" Bogue
flew on his last journey home, Friday, October 3, 2008. Dr. Bogue was born September 16, 1923, to Dr. Joseph and Louise Bogue in Greensburg, Kansas. He spent 69 years of his life in Wichita, Kansas. Dr. Bogue was the oldest of 5 children, 4 boys and one girl. Bob graduated from East High. According to newspaper articles kept by his mother, he played football for a winning team while at East High. After graduating, World War II was in full swing. Bob joined the Marine Corp and served in the Pacific as a mechanic on the fighter F6F with the 533 Marine Nightfighter Squadron. Bob was PROUD to serve his country and proud of being a jarhead. Semper Fi meant something to him. Bob married Betty Young in 1946, a union that lasted 50 years until her death in 1996. They had 3 children, 2 boys and 1 girl. 3 granddaughters joined their home after their Mother passed away. Bob grew up surrounded by the veterinary profession and all things Kansas State University. He helped his Dad at the Animal Hospital while growing up. He learned many things from his Dad he couldn't get from book learning.Bob graduated from KSU with his degree in Veterinary Medicine in 1952.He spent a year in residency at Cornell University where he specialized in Small Animal Surgery. Dr. Bogue returned to Wichita and joined his Dad in caring for many of Wichita residences pets.His brother, Richard joined them a year or so later, making it a family practice. Bob played football at KSU and was a member of the Golden Cats. Dr. Bogue alongside his Dad was the zoo veterinarian for a number of years; member of the Plymouth Congregational Church in Wichita, attended the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Shell Knob. In 1997 Bob married Glenna Swank/Forbes.A great granddaughter, Nina, joined their home in 1998. 1999 found them moving to Shell Knob. Dr. Bogue was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, and 2 brothers, Richard and Jim. Survivors: wife, Glenna, g.g.daughter, Nina, sons Michael (Nam), Patric; daughter, Kathi (Rex) Acker; Stepsons, Lewis (Shirley) Forbes and Marty (Beth) Forbes; 6 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; sister Jo (Bud Baden), brother Jerry (Kristie). Memorial services will be held at 1 PM, Tuesday, October 7, 2008, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Shell Knob. Arrangements under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob.
