Not a lot is known of Genevieve Blackham. She was born in Moroni, Utah to Tom Blackham and Mary Ann Hardy. Tom, was a child when he left England with his mother to join the Saints in Utah. They were with the ill fated Martin Handcart Company and were caught in an early snowstorm in Wyoming. They would have died had they not been rescued by Ephraim Hanks and those sent out to find them and bring them home in the winter.

Genevieve nursed her dad in his old age until he passed away in 1917. Fred Davis' first wife, Emma, had passed away in 1916. He had asked Genevieve to marry him, but she told him she had to take care of her father first. After he passed away, she married Fred Davis in 1918.

Genevieve played the piano and was very talented. She bore Fred 5 children - 4 of whom lived to adulthood.

In 1935, at the young age of 45, she had appendicitis and went to the hospital in Payson, UT to have it removed. The operation was successful and she was sent home to recuperate. After a few days, she had extreme pain in her abdomen and went back to the hospital where it was discovered that infection had set in. She died on the operating table.

Genevieve was raised at a time and place where material goods were very few and hard work was plentiful. She was kind and loving and raised 4 fine children who always remembered her and loved her. Her children went on to become a Registered Nurse, Dentist, Farmer, and Colonel in the Air Force. They also married and raised strong families. She never knew any of her grandchildren, but they all knew her and loved her because of the wonderful example she gave to her children who then taught their children.
